Tier 2 Behavior Facilitator  (one position at at each of the four locations: Buchanan K-1 Center, Madison 2-3 Center, Washington 4-5 Center, & Middle School)

 

This position will serve in school setting. The essential functions and duties of the Behavior Facilitator position will reflect the student and staff needs of the assigned work location. Assigned work locations are subject to change as necessary.

  1. Work collaboratively with building staff to create and sustain positive learning environments for all students
  2. Support students to manage behavior by implementing supportive strategies and individualized support plans in alternative learning settings to control behavior.
  3. Documents student progress on behavior and achievement goals.
  4. Conducts observations and collects classroom teacher documentation needed for referral and reintegration procedures.
  5. Provides teachers and parents with progress reports, as directed by the case manager.
  6. Effectively organizes and manages paperwork and other documentation as directed by the teacher or case manager.
  7. Participates in the implementation and revision of student behavior programs under the direction of the Behavior Specialist or teacher/case manager.
  8. Supervises student activities, when needed.
  9. Help establish home-school communication concerning the behaviors under the direction of the Behavior Specialist or teacher/case manager
  10. Participates in professional development as required and when requested by the District.
  11. Assists with implementing behavior intervention strategies outlined in the behavior intervention plan and/or within the school district supported techniques to establish and maintain appropriate behaviors as determined by the problem-solving team.
  12. Facilitates student progress toward social, emotional, behavioral, and/or adaptive goals.
  13. Assist student in shaping behaviors through positive reinforcement, redirection, and other strategies.
  14. Models effective implementation of strategies and supports school staff with learning and applying those strategies
  15. Supports students during transitions.
  16. Participates in the gradual release of strategy and/or behavior intervention plan implementation to classroom staff under the direction of the Behavior Specialist or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst
  17. Provide instruction in content areas as needed to support student academic growth during periods of behavior interventions.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements:

  • Certified Teaching certificate preferred (salary starting @ $56,900)
  • Minimum high school diploma AND applicants provide documentation of having completed 48 semester hours of college credit or having passed the South Dakota highly qualified para-educator test  (starting salary @ $21.83 / hour)

 

Hiring Information

  • BA Starting Salary $56,900
  • Average Teacher Salary $64,970

2025-2026 Professional Staff Fringe Benefits: 

Health Insurance

The board of education participates in a group insurance plan covering hospital, surgical, and medical costs.  For each certified employee who is employed for at least 75% of a full-time contract:

  • Single Premium: District will pay $ 707.40 per month; the employee pays $ 78.60
  • Family Premium: District will pay $ 1,176.60 per month; the employee will pay $ 784.40
  • Employee + 1: District will pay  $ 942.00 per month; the employee pays $ 628.00
  • Employee + Dependents: District will pay $ 852.60 per month; the employee pays $ 568.40
  • If the district employs both husband and wife for at least 75% of a full-time contract, each employee will pay $ 78.60 per month for health insurance coverage.
  • Employees on a 50% to 74% contract will receive one-half the above listed benefit contributed to the group insurance plan.
  • Employees on a less than 50% contract will receive no insurance benefits from the district.
  • Premium increases will take effect July 1st of each year.

Term Life Insurance

The school district will pay the cost of a single premium or a family premium on a term life insurance policy.  Employees on a 50% to 74% contract will have one-half the benefit contributed on a term life insurance policy.  Employees on less than a 50% contract will receive no benefits from the district.        

The beneficiary amount of the policy shall be $15,000, plus double indemnity coverage.

 

Dental Insurance

The board of education participates in a group insurance plan covering dental costs. The school district will pay up to the amount of a single premium per year for each certified employee who is employed for at least 75% of a full-time contract. (If the employee chooses to include dependents in his/her plan, he/she must pay the difference in the single and the family premium.) Employees on a 50% to 74% contract will have one-half of the single premium contributed to the group dental plan. Employees on less than a 50% contract will receive no insurance benefits from the district.
